About Llechwedd Slate Caverns

Llechwedd Slate Caverns is a visitor attraction near Blaenau Ffestiniog Gwynedd, Wales. The main aspect of the Slate Caverns is its Llechwedd Deep Mine Tour which has the steepest narrow gauge railway in the UK and travels over 500 feet underground to the disused slate caverns, and the Quarry Explorer Tour which heads out to the furthest reaches of the site to explore the history of mining in the area. In 2014 a new guided Victorian Mine Tour also opened.

The attraction also incorporates Mountain biking tracks, Zip-lines and giant underground trampolines. Zip World Titan is Europe’s longest zip course.

We supported Llechwedd with a concept and operational development and design workshop to determine options and the most appropriate concept and operating model for their redeveloped visitor restaurant.
