HSBC UK National Cycling Centre & National Squash Centre

About HSBC UK National Cycling Centre & National Squash Centre

Eastlands Trust was created by the merger of The Velodrome Trust and Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust in 2014. The Trust is responsible for managing a portfolio of national and elite sporting facilities on behalf of Manchester City Council, including HSBC UK National Cycling Centre (HSBC UK NCC) and National Squash Centre and Manchester Regional Arena (NSC/ MRA).

HSBC UK National Cycling Centre

The HSBC UK NCC was the UK’s first indoor cycle track and is home of the GB track and BMX cycling teams. It is also the base for British Cycling, the National Governing Body for the sport, with up to 200 staff based within its purpose built offices on the first floor.

The profile of users is very broad due to the national status of the facilities, with cyclists drawn from across the region and beyond. The sports courts in the track centre are in regular use by local teams and leagues, and the meeting rooms are in high demand.

Onsite catering facilities include the Velopark Café, as well as a number of bars and food outlets along the spectator concourse, complemented by a range of vending machines.

National Squash Centre & Manchester Regional Arena

The NSC/ MRA hosts a number of major events throughout the year including the National Squash Championships, British Open Squash Championships and National and European track championships. Its location also benefits commercially from MCFC’s home fixtures, concerts and the many mass participation events held on the wider Etihad Campus, e.g. Sky Ride, Colour Run, etc.

The NSC/ MRA is popular with local and regional athletes, drawn to the high standard of its facilities. Profile of users varies from novices participating in the leagues, to elite players from England Squash’s Performance Academy. The venue has benefited from a major expansion in the number of tenants it hosts including 80 Manchester City Council and NGB staff, plus a further 80 academic staff of the new University College of Football and Business (UCFB), which has created a base at the Etihad Campus.

Venue catering includes a café and other facilities similar to those at HSBC UK National Cycling Centre.
