Café & Catering Services Request for Proposal – Stephenson Memorial Hall

On behalf of Chesterfield Borough Council, Montfort Consultants is seeking a like-minded and experienced catering operator who will take responsibility for all catering services on site at the redeveloped Stephenson Memorial Hall.

Chesterfield’s historic Stephenson Memorial Hall is being transformed as part of a multi-million pound renovation project to create a modern cultural venue in the heart of Chesterfield. Around £11 million of a Levelling Up Fund grant will be used to fund a £19 million renovation and remodelling of the theatre and museum spaces, which are housed in the Grade II listed building on Corporation Street. The multi-million pound refurbishment of Chesterfield’s Theatre with a modern Museum experience will create a state-of-the-art cultural venue. The venue will also include a gallery space, education and community facilities.

The plans include three new lifts that will significantly improve the accessibility of the building for visitors, artists and employees.The ground floor will be the stunning central setting for the new Café Bar, surrounded by original stained glass windows, wooden panelling and museum objects. The location will also accommodate a retail space. A further performance bar will be available within the atrium at Mezzanine Level.

The redeveloped Stephenson Memorial Hall will include the Café Bar, centrally relocated within Stephenson Memorial Hall, which will mark both the beginning and end of the visitor journey, providing a unique commercial opportunity for the Café Bar.

There is now an opportunity for an experienced catering operator to define the full food and beverage offering.
