Royal West of England Academy – Review of Café Commercial Proposals

Montfort Catering Consultants have supported Royal West of England Academy (RWA) with specialist catering consultancy and business planning advice, reviewing and advising on the commercial proposals received from their preferred café operator. Specifically, this included:

  • Review of wider café business proposals.
  • Benchmarking café operating sales and cost ratios, along with appropriateness of capital proposals.
  • Review key contract terms – commercial structure, financial return, term and capital proposals. Recommend any points for negotiation/ discussion.
  • Review and advice on any headline proposed commercial terms.

The RWA is Bristol’s first art gallery, bringing world-class visual art from around the world to the South West.

The RWA is the UK’s only Royal Academy of Art housed in its own, original purpose-built gallery. This spectacular Grade II* listed building has recently undergone a £4.5m transformation – opening up access for all.

Spicer+Cole at the RWA is their fifth and largest café counter in Bristol. With its own dedicated entrance, the café is accessible from the newly remodelled forecourt, with both indoor and outdoor seating on the terrace and balcony. The menu includes breakfast, light lunches, cakes and great coffee.

If you’re looking for support to develop your gallery café or event catering operations, or would like to discuss how we could support you improve the potential of your existing food and beverage operations, financial return and visitor experience, do get in touch for an informal talk with a qualified catering consultant.
