Arts Centre Café Review, Tender & Monitoring – Beacon Arts Centre

Montfort Catering Consultants have provided catering consultancy services to the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock, initially supporting with the development of the café bar and undertaking a competitive catering tender and appointing a new catering operator. In December 2021 we visited the Beacon to review the café bar and catering as part of our on-going catering consultancy support services to the Beacon.

Beacon Arts Centre, with a mission to ‘light up lives in Inverclyde,’ is an ‘all-day, all-week arts centre at the heart of Greenock’s Waterfront regeneration’. An array of performances is presented in both the main auditorium and studio spaces, from national arts companies such as National Theatre and Scottish Opera, to large-scale community musicals, amateur theatre, dance and comedy. An outreach and creative learning programme encourages participation for all across fun-filled theatre and dance projects to masterclasses and workshops. Constantly changing exhibitions within the upstairs gallery showcase local, national and international artists. In addition, the Beacon Arts Centre has versatile meeting spaces available for hire.

Café Beacon is an accessible-to-all waterfront café bar with unrivalled ever-changing panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde to the Highlands and beyond.

Our catering advice has also included developing an interactive operational and financial model that supports management decisions by determining the impact of changes to key variables including different menu options, tariffs, opening hours and staffing. From this we have then identified the key variables for the catering operation, wider opportunities and risks as well as taking in to account current environmental challenges as a result of COVID-19.

We remain involved in the on-going support and development of the café bar and catering operation at the Beacon Arts Centre.
