Montfort Catering Consultants are providing specialist catering consultancy services to the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock, determining the most appropriate management and operational models for their café and events catering business for a new ‘Welcome Back, To The Future’.

Beacon Arts Centre, with a mission to ‘light up lives in Inverclyde,’ is an ‘all-day, all-week arts centre at the heart of Greenock’s Waterfront regeneration’. An array of performances is presented in both the main auditorium and studio spaces, from national arts companies such as National Theatre and Scottish Opera, to large-scale community musicals, amateur theatre, dance and comedy. An outreach and creative learning programme encourages participation for all across fun-filled theatre and dance projects to masterclasses and workshops. Constantly changing exhibitions within the upstairs gallery showcase local, national and international artists. In addition, the Beacon Arts Centre has versatile meeting spaces available for hire.

Café Beacon is an accessible-to-all Waterfront café with unrivalled ever-changing panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde to the Highlands and beyond.

Montfort Catering Consultants are working with the Beacon Arts Centre in determining a future operating and management model for Café Beacon and their events catering. Our initial work commenced with the invitation to join the organisation’s Catering Working Group.

As part of our catering advice we have further developed an interactive operational and financial model that supports management decisions by determining the impact of changes to key variables including different menu options, tariffs, opening hours, staffing as well as showing different outcomes if it is managed in-house or by a third party external operator. From this we have then identified the key variables for the catering operation while also identifying wider opportunities and risks as well as taking in to account current environmental challenges as a result of COVID-19.

We remain involved in the on-going support and development of the Café and catering operation at the Beacon Arts Centre, including liaison with local and regional Scottish suppliers.
