Museum Café Advice – Milestones Museum

Montfort Catering Consultants are working with Milestones Museum, Hampshire’s museum of living history, providing advice and supporting the improvement of the visitor café.

Milestones Museum is Hampshire’s Museum of living history located in Basingstoke. The visitor attraction ‘Top Floor Project’ is focused on improving the visitor experience and commercial return via a series of initiatives including a refurbished welcome area, café and retail space. Along with improvements in programming the Museum aims to see a sustainable increase in visitor numbers by at least 20,000 per year by 2023.

Visitor catering specific proposals include the refurbishment of the café and increased covers along with a refresh of the ‘Vintage Tea Tent’ area to maximise the food and beverage income and customer experience. Working with local partners the café/ retail areas will also be better promoted to the local community to encourage greater use of the facility for community events, meetings and corporate events.

Our catering consultancy advice to the Museum, working with the wider project team, includes identifying future visitor catering requirements including menu focus, tariffs, service approach and rationale; financial planning and review of the business case; staffing structures; marketing initiatives as well as working with the design team.
