The Geffrye Museum
Visitor Catering Development – Museum of the Home
Set in elegant Grade 1 listed 18th century almshouses, surrounded by attractive award winning gardens, the Geffrye Museum in Shoreditch, East London depicts the quintessential style of English living rooms displayed as period rooms from 1600 to the present day.
The Geffrye Museum of the Home is re-starting its major capital project. The development will create an entrance opposite Hoxton Station, new spaces for the museum’s collections and library, a gallery, restaurant and conference facilities, as well as revitalising existing public spaces.
Appointed by the Geffrye, our initial work has included developing the catering strategy for the new visitor catering, along with providing specialist advice in relation to the conference facility. Working with the wider project team, we have also provided support and advice to inform the design in relation to the visitor and conference catering. Summary catering consultancy support services and advice provided to date includes:
- Catering strategy development
- Conference market overview & catering requirements
In addition, we have recently undertaken an operational review of the visitor restaurant to further develop its potential during the interim period. Following the review we have supported the implementation of the recommendations including identifying and appointing a catering partner to manage the revitalised visitor cafe.
