Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service through the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner have five strategic locations requiring a broad range of catering services:
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service & Hampshire Constabulary HQ – comprising office accommodation, fire training facilities, vehicle workshops and a main communications complex as well as a conference facility and staff restaurant.
Hampshire Constabulary Southern Support & Training Centre – training headquarters based in Victoria House, a Grade II listed building surrounded by the gardens of the historic Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley. The sites house an administrative block, a training centre and a main communications complex offering a lecture theatre and conference rooms. Catering services include staff & visitor restaurant, event, conference and meeting catering as well as vending.
Hampshire Constabulary Southampton Central Police Station – located in central Southampton, comprising a multi-level building, as well as acting as a Police Station, the site also houses a custody suite. The location operates 24/7 across 365 days with catering services including a staff restaurant and coffee shop, vending and custody suite catering provision.
Hampshire Constabulary Police Investigation Centre (North) – a new Police Investigation Centre in Basingstoke including a two-storey office building and 36 custody cell block building. The operation functions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Catering services include staff restaurant and coffee shop, vending and custody suite catering.
Hampshire Constabulary Police Investigation Centre (East) – due to open in 2019. As well as acting as an Investigation Centre there will also be 36 cell custody suite. The centre follows the same model as Basingstoke with similar catering services proposed.
Montfort Catering Consultants were appointed to review catering at each the five strategic locations along with reviewing the Tender Scope, Invitation to Tender documentation and Catering Tender Specification. We also reviewed and benchmarked the catering financials along with defining conceptual options and design amendments. Our high-level recommendations for each of the five sites ensured that the operations were appropriately defined and configured to achieve a nil subsidy position while attracting the maximum level of interest from the catering marketplace.
