Hiscox, headquartered in Bermuda and with 28 offices in 11 countries, is an international specialist insurer, underwriting a diverse range of personal and insurance risks.

The facilities at 1 Great St Helens, City of London, include an employee catering facility, Art Café, which is an assisted and waited service café. In addition, there is an extensive delivered hospitality service providing beverage and working lunches as well as catering for events, conferences and private dining.

In 2015 Hiscox opened their new landmark office in York city centre. Designed by architects Make, the Hiscox building in York is a multi-function office, accommodating underwriting, claims, customer services, IT, HR and other operational roles as well as their Customer Experience Centre. It is also home to the Hiscox Business Club where start-ups can network and collaborate.

Our Approach

Our support and advice commenced in 2012 with undertaking a catering operational review and detailed financial benchmark and audit of Hiscox’s employee catering, hospitality and fine dining facilities at 1 Great St Helen’s, London. This also included providing market data, intelligence and advice in relation to trends, contract types and service level agreements. Following this initial review we have supported Hiscox through a full catering tender process, including development of all tender documents; introductions to relevant potential catering partners; negotiation and mobilisation.

Montfort Catering Consultants also developed a scope of services and supported Hiscox with the planning and development phase for their workplace catering and hospitality services within the iconic new Hiscox York building. This also included undertaking a full catering tender exercise to appoint a suitable catering operator for the new landmark building. Following mobilisation and opening, we have provided on-going catering operational and financial review support services for the on-site catering services.
