Country Park & Theatre Café Feasibility Study & Design Advice – Snibston Country Park & Century Theatre

Montfort Catering Consultants are currently supporting Leicestershire County Council with a review of the café proposals and business plan for the proposed new café in the redeveloped Snibston Country Park, adjacent to the Century Theatre.

Snibston Country Park, Coalville is an ambitious project that will develop the site to address the needs of a changing community. As well as a purpose built café to support park visitors and theatre audiences, proposals include the development and improvement of existing park facilities for walking, jogging and family cycling as well as creating a hub for the community.

Snibston Country Park covers over 40 hectares of mixed habitats. The grounds include the former colliery spoil heap created by waste from Snibston Colliery, which has been reclaimed to form woodlands and an open rough grassland area. At the heart of the country park is the Grange Nature Reserve. Once the gardens of the Colliery Manager, it is now an important ecological site for wildlife.

The new café will also be located directly adjacent to the Century Theatre – Britain’s oldest surviving travelling theatre as well as the resident theatre in Keswick for a further 22 years. It has since been based permanently at Snibston from 1997. The Century Theatre continues to be a unique and special venue that provides high quality performances, shows, live music and films for local residents.

Working on behalf of Leicestershire County Council, Montfort Catering Consultants are currently supporting with a review of the business plan and determining future operational requirements for the new park café. We are also working with our design colleagues reviewing and developing the cafe design and associated spaces.
