The Halle, St Peter’s – Cafe Bar Development

Now in its 158th season, the Halle ranks among the UK’s top symphonic ensembles, with a distinguished history of acclaimed performances in this country and around the world; award winning recordings; radio broadcasts and educational outreach programmes; and a visionary commitment to building audiences and developing orchestral repertoire.

The Halle St Peter's interiorHalle St Peter’s is the Halle’s rehearsal, recording and event venue in Ancoats, Manchester. The building, located on Blossom Street, is a Grade 2 listed deconsecrated church, which was built in 1859. After standing empty for decades, the Halle acquired St Peter’s and it has been redeveloped and restored to its former glory providing a light, airy and beautiful space ideal for rehearsing, performing, teaching and recording.

A capital development project creating a new-build extension will form the second phase of the project to transform the Grade II listed former church building into rehearsal, performance, education and ancillary spaces for the Halle Orchestra, Choir and other ensembles. Included within the ancillary spaces it is proposed that there will be a public café bar along with supporting kitchen.

Building works are projected to commence late May 2017 with the building reopening eighteen months later in September 2018.

Montfort Consultants has been working with the Halle, determining the future conceptual style and operating parameters for the new café bar, along with its future financial potential and approach to management of the venue catering. In conjunction with our design partners, consideration has also been given to the catering spaces, including the kitchen design and location.
